Current Employment

Director of Regulatory Affairs, San Francisco Science. Dr. Youngmann works with all of the SFS companies in their early stages of product development to define their respective regulatory and quality system strategies. As such, Dr. Youngmann is the SFS point man on all matters pertaining to the regulatory affairs of the SFS portfolio companies.

Dr. Youngmann's clients have included small to large firms in a wide range of medical specialties. He has worked with firms in defining good engineering practices for the creation of cardio-vascular, pulmonary and orthopedic devices using ultrasound, holographic and robotic technologies. He has demonstrated success in the clearance or approval of products through 510(k), PMA, NDA, and CE-Marking routes. company, in areas of financing, company presentation and engineering. Responsibilities include assisting in identifying and contacting potential distributors worldwide and working closely with the company'qs scientific advisors, engineers and consultants.


Previous Employment

From 1990 through early 1996, Dr. Youngmann directed international regulatory affairs and market development for NeoPath, Inc., a medical device manufacturer in Redmond, Washington. Dr. Youngmann helped take NeoPath from a small, engineering-oriented start-up to a publicly traded and FDA-approved manufacturer of an automated Pap smear analyzer.

Before that, Dr. Youngmann held several positions in the field of graphics software with Halliburton and Tektronix. Dr. Youngmann was Associate Professor of Geography and Computer Science at the University of Washington form 1973 to 1983 and at Ohio State University from 1970 to 73.
